The next day, Maya insisted that she and Mint walk around the village for a bit. Which was fine for Rue, because he wanted to ask King Mark something.

"So Rue, how long have you been in love with my daughter?" Mark asked, as he poured a cup of tea for Rue.

"Oh, for over two years, I was in love with her when I met her. I know its kind of hard to know its true, you know the way she is, and the way she would always treat me." Rue said.

"Yea, I understand. I remember when I met the girls' mother. Ahh, she was one of the most prettiest girls I have ever laid my eyes on. Both of my daughters remind me so much of their mother all the time. That is why I am always so overprotective of them." Mark said.

"Look sir..." Rue began.

"Hey you can call me Mark or father when you and Mint get married someday." Mark said.

"Oh well about that... I wanted to ask your permission to marry Mint." Rue said.

"Really? That is fast! You have been together for two days, do you think Mint will accept?" Mark asked.

Rue smiled. "I hope so. She loves me so why would she say no?"

"You never know, lad. But yes I do give you my permission. She is always so happy when she is around you. I'm happy that she found someone who will always make her happy."

"Oh thank you, Mark! I will propose to her tomorrow." Rue said.

"You are welcome. Stay here for as long as you like. You are already like family to me." Mark said.

Rue was so excited to ask Mint to marry him! He was hoping that she would say yes.
